It is always exciting when a new slate of officers take over. It represents
change in one sense, but in another sense it represents an unbroken stream of
leaders of Hampton Lodge # 70 dating back many decades.

The outgoing officers of Hampton Lodge # 70 are summoned west of the Altar
for a presentation. This team had an outstanding year and propelled Hampton
Lodge to the forefront of lodges in the 6th District with excellent degree work
and an unprecedented level of fraternalism among the brethren.

Outgoing Master Tim Legarth presents each of his officers with a Christmas
Tree ornament depicting the George Washington Masonic Memorial as a token of his
appreciation for their service to Hampton Lodge during 2008.

The Annual Installation provides a forum for recognizing outstanding
achievement by some of the brethren. WB Larry Griggers, Chairman of the
Recognition and Awards Committee, presents Bro. Mike Williams, Chapter Advisor
for the Clayton DeMolay Chapter, with an award recognizing him for outstanding
achievements in Youth Mentoring. It
read:
"For unfaltering fidelity and dedication to the success of the young men of Clayton Chapter"

Incoming Master Wayne Keith was presented an award for Most
Good Natured. It read:
"For allowing us to have fun with his wonderful Alabama accent and enjoy the fraternal bonding that comes from laughing at ourselves."

We are all proud at how Bro. Tony Tumlin, Sr. has stepped up to the plate
during our degrees. He was presented an award for Best
Dramatic Impact:
"For giving life to our important Masonic lessons through outstanding dramatic presentation."

Our incoming Junior Warden, Bro. Ronnie Davis, received an award for Most
Improved. It read:
"For showing what one can accomplish when they have a true love of Masonry in their heart."

Bro. Barry Brooks was elected to fill the station in the West and earned a Just
Do It! award for being a go-to guy when you need to get something
done. His award read:
"For letting nothing stand in the way of his getting needed things done and having no limits to his generosity."

Tim Legarth had serving his 2nd term as Master of the Lodge and had done an
outstanding job. The Recognitions and Awards Committee recognized his Outstanding
Achievement as Master of the Lodge - 2008. The award read:
"Truly one of the greatest leaders Hampton Lodge # 70 has ever had."

Joy McGee, wife of WB Mac McGee, became our first female recipient of a lodge
outstanding achievement award for her special efforts to support the members of
the Lodge. She received a Wind Beneath Our Wings
Award. It read:
"The curtains she crafted that now adorn our lodge are a constant reminder of how our Masonic wives adorn our lives with true love and beauty."

Our beloved WB Elder "Mutt" Starr received the coveted Mason
of the Year Award. He was surrounded by his family and was
surprised and visibly moved. The inscription on this award tell the whole story:
"Few among us ever reach his pinnacle of being considered by all his brethren as "A Mason's Mason"."

All of the brethren came by to personally congratulate WB Mutt for all of his
work to Hampton Lodge # 70 over the years. Despite health issues, he has been a
faithful members and is still coaching candidates in the work.

Without the love and support of their wives our officers would not have
anywhere near as successful a year. We appreciate them and the Master presented
each with roses as a token of our affection.
