Hampton
Lodge # 70 Installation 2002
New
officers for the calendar year 2003 were installed on December 13,
2002. Pictured above are, from left to right, Joe Turner, Treasurer;
Tony Tumlin, Senior Steward; Leonard Gordon, Senior Warden; Robert
Trudelle, Junior Deacon; Ed Hendry, Director of Work; Mike Butler,
Worshipful Master; Steve Hendry, Senior Deacon; Harold Smith, Tyler;
Tim Legarth, Junior Warden; Paul Roles, Junior Steward; Larry Griggers,
Secretary; and Coy Whittington, Chaplain.

Director
of Work Ed Hendry (left) is real proud of how much the work at Hampton
has improved over the last year and lobbies the new Master, Mike Butler
(center) and Junior Warden, Tim Legarth (right), to encourage the
members to regularly attend practice sessions.

Nothing
but first class eating at Hampton Lodge. The meal for the installation
consisted of ribeye steak, baked potato, salad and a great cake for
desert. Bro. Starr (right) looks real pleased with the meal.

Outgoing
Master, Lynn Carter delivers the Hampton Charter from the Grand Lodge
of Georgia to incoming Master, Mike Butler. This symbolizes the
transfer of leadership in the lodge for the new year.

Installing
Master Larry Griggers leads everyone in saluting the new Master with
Grand Honors, signifying the great respect rightfully due his high
leadership position in the lodge.

Bro.
Butler's two children, John and Emily presented him with a gavel.
Having the support of your family means a great deal to the top leader
of the lodge, who spends a lot of evenings in the service of the
fraternity.

Georgia
Butler presents her husband with a hat to wear when presiding. A Mason
has to serve in the line for seven years before assuming the role of
Master of a lodge, and during that time they accumulate a lot of
wisdom. The hat symbolizes the crown of King Solomon, a very wise ruler.

Installing
Marshall, Joe Turner, makes the proclamation signifying that all the
officers are duly installed.

Bro.
Butler is an Advisor to Clayton Chapter, Order of DeMolay. The members
of the Chapter came out to show their support of their Advisor. Shown
above, left to right, are Michael Griggers, Mike Riley, John Butler,
Marcus Peden, Mike Butler, Brian Eidson and Alex Williams. Mike Riley
is a member of Middle Georgia Chapter and the highest ranking DeMolay
in Georgia.
In an
unusual coincidence, the Master's son, John, will be serving as Master
Councilor of Clayton Chapter at the same time his father is serving as
Master of Hampton Lodge. Congratulations to this father-son
team!
